She has been best friends with Leo since birth so she was unsure if what she felt for Leo is kinship, friendship or more (but we know better! Lol). Her father has decided to name her his heir (decision by firstborn) and she is proud to take up the role. She takes no bs from anyone and stands up for herself when needed. “I’ve been so dark without you.” The Heir, Chapter 24, 69.3%Īnna Wilk is a badass heroine though she looks anything but – she has snowlike skin (thanks to her dad’s Polish heritage) and a strong but small, petite frame. “All the light went out of my life,” I whisper. On the romance side, as a popular athlete, Leo has fooled around with many girls but none came close to what he feels for Anna and that scares the hell out of him since they are supposed to be cousins by association and he doesn’t know how Anna would react to his romantic feelings. His I-can-do-it attitude became WE-can-make-it and once he learns to put the team before himself, he actually turns out to be a good leader. As a result, he has that slight arrogance in him initially which is fortunately stamped out during his stint at the Kingmakers.

Leo Gallo is an outstanding basketballer, like his old man Sebastian, and full of sunshine, honor and an athletic hot bod. No one will cherish and protect her as I will. Let’s embark Leo and Anna’s best-friends-to-lovers‘ journey, and a second-gen mafia adventure at Kingmakers! As the pair of childhood best friends set off to the reclusive island for their education, old fued is once again ignited when they cross Dean Yenin (son of Adrian Yenin, brother of Yelena Yenina – there were unsettled business from the Brutal Birthrights series). The first book in the series features Leo Gallo (son of Sebastian Gallo and Yelena Yenina from Heavy Crown, book 6 in Sophie’s Brutal Birthrights series) and Anna Wilk (daughter of Mikolaj Wilk and Nessa Griffin from Stolen Heir, book 2 of the same series). The world building by Ms Lark is amazing and I absolutely love the school as the backdrop of the Kingmakers world. Apart from the obvious combat skills (physical combat and shooting etc), other interesting skills include ways to endure torture, hacking and the ethics of money laundering (seriously lol). Kingmakers, similar to how Hogwarts is teaching magic to the magical youngsters, is the school all kids from mafia families attend to learn their ways of the mafia world.

The Heir (originally titled The Freshman) is the first book in the Kingmakers series by Sophie Lark and it blows my mind away.
